Southcare Community Care’s Migrant Help Program consists of a multicultural community. Many of them came into Australia with little or no formal education. The majority are now parents and would find it challenging to go back to school. Their lack of formal education is accompanied with some barriers and some find it very hard to assimilate with the larger Australian community due to their illiteracy, past trauma, early rejection and unskilled lives.
Southcare Community Care is helping people in our community to assimilate into Australia by initiating training projects that will help them learn new skills, improve educational standard and connect with friends who have faced similar situations like them but have overcome them.
Southcare Community Care provides study assistance to the children of these families in the church and the larger community to help break the cycle of illiteracy amongst these families.
